Welcome to Storytelling Planet
Thank you for being here, wondering, wandering and reading.
I am Gizem and I have been on this planet for forty three years. My name means mystery in my mother tongue. I was born and raised in Istanbul as a bundle of mystery and I’ve lived most of my life here, estranged yet physically present, besides the years I spent on the west coast of the Turtle Island studying filmmaking and working after my mother’s passing. As far as I can remember, I have always foamed with imagination, stories and dreams but in 2008, a wild story found me and changed my life forever. Ever since I have been apprenticing to storytelling and imagination, and working on bringing wild fantasy stories into written word.
I am not a biologist, I am not a geologist, I am not an anthropologist… My field of work is imagination and creativity. I deeply love our planet and universe. I consider myself an ongoing creative storytelling activity; an animist artist and storyteller. Gizegen is my artist name and my planet. It is a word play between two Turkish words gizem (mystery) and gezegen (means planet in Turkish).
Gizem + Gezegen = Gizegen.
Storytelling Planet and its stories are mostly free beings.
If you subscribe, what I write will arrive directly into your mailbox. You won’t miss them, they won’t miss you. If you do not, they will not be delivered to you yet you can still come and visit them on Substack unless they are paid or made paid after being sent. I try to keep much of my writing free and available that being said your support makes me gain financial stability and freedom to write, create and share more.
As you know you can always subscribe and/or unsubscribe anytime you want and I wish you to also know that I appreciate you being here.
I am a non-native English writer… therefore, I suspect, there will be some language blood, broken sentence bones, mischievous grammatical mistakes, made-up words and peculiar ways of expressing things; I hope they muse and amuse you.
With wild imagination, creativity and respect,
Gizem Gizegen
